‘Prayers are no longer enough…’

As yet another community comes to terms with yet another mass shooting – the 944th such incident in the US in the past three years – a clearly frustrated and upset President Obama called, once again, for reform of America’s gun laws.

“Our thoughts and prayers are not enough… It does nothing to prevent this carnage from being inflicted someplace else in America, next week or a couple of months from now.”

It was the fifteenth time he has addressed a mass shooting during his Presidency.

Russian airstrikes in Syria are set to dominate the summit on Friday in Paris, as Vladimir Putin meets with Francois Hollande and Angela Merkel for discussions previously set to address the situation in Ukraine.

In London, the Conservative candidate for next year’s London mayoral election will be, as expected, Zac Goldsmith. And not, er, S*l Camp*ell.

Looks like Joaquin might not be coming to party after all…
