Update: 8.30am ET…
There have been 1,991 U.S. senators. Just 10 of them have been Black — until now.

These aren't exact numbers, but it looks like turnout in Georgia's 2nd Congressional District (SW GA, rural counties with large black populations) is nearly 90% of what it was in November. In GA-9 (heavily GOP NW GA, where rump went Monday night), it's about 85%.

My 86 year old Aunt just called me and said that she saw me on @CNN and she wanted to share w/me that this is the first time in her life that she feels like her vote actually matters. In a funny kleptocratic coincidence, the husband of the just defeated Georgia senator Kelly Loeffler is the chairman of the New York Stock Exchange, which just reversed its plan to delist Chinese companies, embarrassing the Trump administration. https://t.co/BjfgC3LE0x

Warnock and Ossoff may have reason to thank Trump for coming to Georgia last night and talking about Perdue and Loeffler — and, mainly, himself.

So far, we've got a decent cohort of rural, extremely Republican counties that are below 90% of November turnout levels.
— Dave Wasserman (@Redistrict) January 6, 2021
That's got to worry Rs, b/c we know at least DeKalb – the biggest Dem vote trove in the state – is going to be *above* 90% of its November turnout level.
Turnout is down significantly in a core Republican part of Georgia, which could be a bad sign for the GOP. Steve Kornacki notes that Republicans had concerns about turnout coming into today. pic.twitter.com/pHRX5NbgaE
